Thousands of years before the area around today’s city of Carcassonne with its mighty castle was built, this area was already inhabited. People hunted wild animals, gathered berries and caught fish to ensure their daily survival. Even today, fantastic cave paintings and prehistoric artefacts bear witness to life back then.

As in Carcassonne, the ‘Game of the Year 2001’, players spread out a beautiful landscape from large maps. It is populated by hunters and gatherers, game, mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers.
